“I am not perfect… but I am enough.” This belief is at the heart of Tamara Fernandez’s therapeutic work. She understands that experiences of trauma, loss, stress, and emotional pain can disrupt our brain’s natural ability to process and integrate memories, often leaving individuals feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. Tamara views therapy as an opportunity for healing and growth—a space to help the brain rewire, restore balance, and build more adaptive and meaningful ways of living.
Tamara is a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Behavior Analyst with over 12 years of experience supporting children, teens, adults, couples, and families from diverse cultural, religious, and identity backgrounds. She is committed to creating a supportive, safe, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore their concerns, strengths, and goals.
She holds a BSc. Specialized Honours in Psychology from York University and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Tamara is EMDR Certified, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and a Clinical Supervisor. Her integrative, trauma-informed approach draws from EMDR, CBT, DBT, ACT, IFS, EFT, the Gottman Method, mindfulness, play-based approaches, and applied behaviour analysis principles.
Tamara works with concerns including trauma and PTSD/C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence (ASD/ADHD), life transitions, relationship and parenting challenges, perinatal and postnatal mental health, grief, stress, emotional regulation, and chronic pain. Outside of her clinical work, she values time with her family, enjoys the outdoors, art, piano, photography, and believes in the importance of practicing mindfulness each day.
